Terrence Murrill - My character is held back by people who don't want him to succeed. My character is a phenomenal baseball player and opposing coaches believe that he is older than he says he is. It should be easy to get a birth certificate, but my character is a foreign and his father died. Since him and his older brother have no one to contact, they try to hide their secret. Michael has all these problems. Baseball and his best friend Manny are the ones who keep him going through life.
William Fletcher. My character is similar because he is held back by all of the things going on. My character loves reading sci-fi books but is forced to read Shakespeare with his teacher who he convinced hates his guts. He also has his friends to keep him happy.
Niyani. My character is also held back by people that don't want her to succeed. As a matter of fact, her extended family would love to see her family crash and burn. However, she immerses herself in books and pushes through the treatment.
I think that it is unfair that Michael should be held back because his peer's don't want him to succeed. Also I think that Michael should go out and follow his dreams as a baseball player.
My main character, Paul, has to go through the struggle of having a very mean brother. His brother, Erik, once sprayed white spray paint in Paul's eyes, making him nearly blind. Erik kills one of Paul's friends, and laughs when one of the players on the football team dies, allowing Erik to take his place. Their motivation to push through it is soccer. Paul really likes playing soccer and that is the only time he is happy.
My character is almost the same. He is very good at baseball , and it's the only thing that makes him happy because he is going through so many things that are personal.
My character isn't similar to yours because her brother cares about her and is supportive of her. in the book, she tries hard to help her brother overcome his dyslexia, while overcoming hers.
Emery I have noticed that like many books in this category, your main character uses a sport to guide him through his struggle. As he uses soccer as his motivation, he unknowingly builds up a resistance to the pain he is caused and uses it in his character development.
Talon Alexander. My main character like yours uses sports as a way to push through their conflicts. My main character uses Boxing as an outlet and O have noticed that a couple of other books in this category have main characters that use sports as an outlet as well.
My book is "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind". In the book there is a boy named William. Him and his family are going through a very tough time right now and that is hunger. His home in an area of Africa that went through a bad rain storm washing away all of the crops they needed to eat. The whole village is going through this, having barely enough food for everyone. William has the motivation to push through it because he knows that once the planting season comes and the plants start to grow, him and his family will get food. He is trying his best to stay alive with only having one meal a day, but it is starting to become rough.
Alyssa My character, Nick Hall, has parents that are getting divorced. He is very close with his mother but his mother will be moving away.Nick plays soccer with his best friend but are on different teams.Nick plays soccer to get through these hard times. Sometimes Nick can't play soccer so he reads a dictionary. He mostly plays soccer but gets hurt. Once he is healed he keeps playing soccer. He might have parents who are divorced but with his friends and soccer he gets through the hard times and keeps playing soccer.
Our books are kind of the same, both of our main characters play soccer to get away from things at home. Is your character, Nick, nerdy? You said that he reads the dictionary so I'm wondering if he is really smart as well.
I think Nick has found a wonderful way to motivate himself with soccer while going through the tough time with his parents getting a divorce, and his mom moving away. I would also find something to motivate myself because what he is going through is very hard to a child.
My character struggles with dyslexia and bullying because of it. Her motivation is to show her brother that it is possible to overcome dyslexia (he's dyslexic too) and convince him to see her teacher and get help.
William Fletcher. The character in my book "The Wednesday Wars" named Holling. Holling is going through some hard times at school . The main character goes through having his dad's whole business on his shoulders at school. Holling has to maintain a good relationship with everyone so nothing goes wrong with his dad's business while dealing with all the things going on. My character settles this problem by reading and being with his friends. Holling loves reading Fiction books. He enjoys the books and takes his mind off of everything. He has also developed a few friends that are there for him when his favorite baseball players denies him a signature and other events throughout the story.
Alyssa Your character is some-what like my character. They both like to read. Your character seems like he has a lot on his shoulders for just a kid. Reading does seem to calm someones mind. Fiction books are fun to read and not worry a lot about everything.
Talon Alexander. In my story my protagonist faces the problems of being a Jewish boy in a Nazi controlled Germany. When he was able to be a boxer he would channel his rage into the ring. He also believe that he was fighting for the Jews. However, now that he was kicked out of boxing he is now trying to escape and stay alive. They way he is doing this is by laying low and staying with his boxing mentor Max.
Andreas. I like what Talon said because it's pretty much telling the whole story, but in a shorter version. I also think it is a very good detailed exsplanation.
Niyani- My character faces conflict internally and externally. Internally, my character can't do what she likes anymore and is often isolated. Externally, her extended family on her dad's side is insistent on making her life miserable and it even causes her health to deteriorate a little. What causes her to perservere is her brother and her mother's comfort and her interests. They don't like staying in the house as much as she does but she has to endure it so that the extended family doesn't judge them more than they already do and by pushing through she might be able to pursue her old hobbies.
Andreas. The struggles my character has gone through is adapting to the envirment. She was taken from home for disrespecting the mayor and now has to live with the mayor to cook and clean. Her motivation to get through the times is to serve her time so she can go back home to be with her family.
Tobin, My main characters face the problem of understanding the instructions on what to do and the fact the fact that after they suposedly spread rumors about the mayor of the city they are sentenced to to time in jail. The motivation to continue was the fact that there family members were still in the city that was soon to fall apart so they were determined to find the way out.
Malena- My character goes through having to deal with a mother who won't take care of them or give them much attention. The mother doesn't care much about them so Delphine has to take care of her sisters and make sure they don't get into trouble. That what pushes her throughout it all.
Rawan Alsaeedy- My character struggles with dyslexia with makes it harder to read. Majority of her motivation comes from her teacher (Mr.Daniels) which he motivates her to learn differently and try harder to be better.

DeleteThe one about Michael's life being unfair is Camilo Garavito's.
